Coaching for Results

Managers frequently fall short in their roles as coaches and mentors. They know that their success depends on their ability to develop their teams, yet developmental opportunities are overlooked and coaching is "one-size-fits-all." In many cases the manager can step in perform a given task, yet they remain unsure of how to help others succeed at that task.

In Coaching for Results, managers gain a range of skills to enhance their coaching. They learn to target areas that need the most development, deliver powerful feedback, and work through the defensive reactions that can arise when performers are struggling. Managers also gain skills to help their teams learn from their own performance. By attending Coaching for Results, your managers will become exemplars of strong, consistent coaching behaviors, raising performance in their teams and increasing their value to your organization.

LEARNING GOALS

In this course, managers learn how to:

  • listen to prevent misunderstanding and clarify their employee’s point of view;

  • target the timing and directiveness of their guidance to empower employees;

  • help employees learn from their own performance;

  • focus feedback to achieve noticeable, significant results;

  • offer objective feedback in an interactive way that keeps employees engaged; and

  • respond to employees’ reactions to feedback respectfully.
